The Twitch Experiment this week was a bit of a mixed bag. I intended to do four live streams and upload them to this weeks YouTube playlist, but I lost Mondays stream, so we're down to three.
Overall I think the stream is doing well, the channel has gained a couple of new followers and it's just gone over 1,000 views. I'm still trying to find my feet with presenting the thing (as I said in the earlier post, I intend to run this as a sort of 2 hour live interactive streamed video podcast type affair) but overall I don't think I've done that bad a job so far. These early streams are basically a test run and a work in progress as I try to chip off the rough edges.
The week started off with some Elite Dangerous, there was no stream on Tuesday, Wednesday was a first look at Stellaris (and me getting very confused by it), Thursday I think was the highlight of the week with some classic Commodore 64 retro games and Friday was the first of my Game Maker Studio 2 live streams where I'm making a sort of remake of an old C64 game I made a long time ago called Blastermax. I had a bit of trouble with this stream as I had a couple of stream drop-outs which resulted in me having to splice the streams together to export to YouTube.
The Game Maker Studio 2 streams are designed to be a sort of follow along thing. Think of it like one of those TV art shows where someone paints a picture as you watch and you follow along, like the Bob Ross stuff. I work on making a very basic game in GML and the viewers can follow along to make the game. I don't go too much into detail on what does what, but I think by following along and watching what I do, it should become clear as to how things work. Unfortunately, Fridays stream was interrupted by a couple of disconnections, so there's a bit of a jump in the middle of this weeks video.
So, that leads me onto the schedule for next week: There won't be a stream on Monday, due to me having to handle family stuff, but there will be streams on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is a bit uncertain at the moment, but I'll post details on Twitter later in the week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be general gaming streams, Thursday will be more retro games and Friday, if I'm on, will be the continuation of games development.
So, that's it for this week. I'll leave you with the playlist of streams for week two.
One final thing: You may notice that the tagline for the stream has changed a little bit. This is probably going to be an ongoing thing as I work on getting the correct formula together. So expect it to change again over the coming weeks.
