As promised here is the week one Twitch stream experiment update.
As the stream didn't start until Wednesday we're short a couple of episodes, but we should have more in the playlist for next week.
This week I took a look at the games Elite Dangerous and Star Control: Origins. The most interesting game was Star Control, with Elite Dangerous really being used as a tool for myself to try and improve my commentary while playing games (this game will probably be a regular on the stream).
Overall, I think the quality of the streams has been okay (aside from the presenter) and you'll notice that the graphics and overlays get tweaked each stream. This is because I was trying to find a graphical style that I liked for the intro, outro and break screens.
I experimented with the sound settings across each stream, so the volume levels do fluctuate slightly each day. Friday was probably the worse day sound wise as I'd turned up the compressor a little too far and this resulted in me being way too loud. It also amplified the high frequency sounds a bit too much, so there is still some tweaking to do there.
As for myself... I think that maybe I'm going a bit to over the top with the presenting. As I mention a couple of times in the stream, I was an actor and have some experience of hosting a TV style broadcast, but I'm a little rusty and I think I'm just trying a tiny bit too hard to drive the commentary forward and not focusing enough on what is happening in the chat. I also have a hard time sticking to some of the things I'm going to do, this is most evident on Friday's stream where I announced I was going to have a look at Wolf 359 and Ross 154 in Elite Dangerous and completely forgot... But there is time to work on this.
Next week there will be streams going out on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
And finally, here's the playlist of collected episodes for this week:
